Charon9: #toshiba_sd_4000 I needed a replacement DVD player and was tired of the $20 dollar specials that died in no time at all, plus I wanted something that would work with DivX. Since I'm a hold out on High-Def this player was fine for me. The first test I did on this thing was disk formats, and then media formats and instead of listing what it would play, it is easier to state what it will NOT play: WMV, ASF, QT(some), RM.

If you need an upconversion unit, try the SD-5000 or higher; but if you are a holdout like me this unit will not make you regret a dime of its cost.

*Note: I did not experience any sync issues but some seem to have them. I do not know if this is bad encoding, bad media, or a combo of the two; this thing works fine here. You would think a DVD with 22 episodes (hours) on it would loose some sync but it plays good from start to end. Jan 12, 08
