Samsung DVD-H1080

The Samsung DVD-H1080 is a compact DVD player that’s about the size of a single disc, weighing in at just over two pounds. Announced at CES 2009, the DVD-H1080 is nearly identical to 2008’s Samsung DVD-F1080, only differentiated by a smoother and shinier case design while incorporating a slot-loading disc drive.

The DVD-H1080 supports 720p/1080i/1080p DVD upscaling via HDMI or composite cable, as well as Dolby Digital sound via coaxial digital audio output. Basic analog stereo sound output is also featured. In addition to DVD playback, this device is compatible with a variety of media formats including: MPEG4 and DivX video files, MP3 and WMA audio files, and JPEG photos by way of a USB stick. This device is intended to be more than just a DVD player, but instead a complete multimedia hub for the general consumer. Samsung’s DVD-H1080 is expected to be released sometime in the first half of 2009.
