Obviously the biggest feature of the Philips DVP5960 is the long list of supported file formats which range from MP3's, WMA's and JPEG's all the way to SVCDs and all types of DVDs and of course the DivX video format.
The DVP5960 also includes additional features such as a 12-bit/108MHz video processing DAC for a "superior" digital-to-analog conversion, a 24-bit/192KHz audio DAC, high quality analog and digital video and audio outputs, an HDMI 1.3 output, standard DVD and DivX format upscaling to 1080i, a direct USB connection for flash drive support, and progressive scan technology which enhances the resolution of the output image for a sharper picture.
It is worthy of noting that the DVP5960's predecessor, the DVP5900, had some minor bugs and flaws when playing files that were being upscaled to high-definition quality output, this newer model however as of this writing has no known software bugs or problems.
