Marantz DV 4001
$180.00
Released August, 2007
The Pros:Gives CDs a rich, analog-quality feel - great Digital/Analog conversion. Heavy construction, avoids suffering from vibrations. Integrates well with many receivers, can be controlled by the receiver itself.
The Cons:A little slow to read DVDs, takes awhile to eject. A little confusing at first, need to read the manual. Need to be careful that the "int" switch on the back is set correctly or remote controls may not work.
The Marantz DV 4001 is a progressive-scan DVD player engineered to handle DVDs, CDs, VCDs, MP3s, WMAs, and JPEGs. It features an all-digital HDMI output with internal scaling (1080i, 720p, 480p) for watching movies in high-definition.

In addition, the DV 4001 includes 3:2 pulldown circuitry, support for stereo or multi-channel analog/coaxial digital, and a front-panel menu operation. It should be noted that although the DV 4001 doesn’t come jam-packed with features nor a high-end interface, it does tote a superior quality build with what critics extol is “excellent picture and sound performance.” For instance, consider the DV 4001’s 108MHz/12-bit video DAC and 192kHz/24-bit audio DAC for each and every channel. Additional features of the Marantz DV 4001 receiver include a PAL/NTSC converter, an RS232C terminal for system control, and a low profile aluminum front panel. The Marantz DV 4001 retails for $179.99 and comes with a 3 year limited warranty.
