The Cons:DVD playback ability tends to stop working properly after about a year of use. Even at its best, DVD playback isn't always a smooth affair--playback tends to temporarily freeze at least once per movie viewing. Doesn't come packaged with a remote--the remote is packaged with the matching receiver.

The Harman Kardon DVD 38 is a DVD audio/video player offered by Harman / Kardon which featured HDMI connectivity. It is capable of producing 720p or 1080i playback through its Simplay HD certified HDMI output.

Product Shot 2 It is capable of playing 5 inch or 3 inch DVD-Video or DVD-Audio, standard-conforming DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, VCD, CD, CD-R or CD-RW discs, and can also handle MP3, WMA, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD formats. The included remote is backlit for easy use while watching a movie in a dark room. For connectivity, there are coaxial and optical digital audio outs, 2-channel and 6-channel analog outs, HDMI, composite, s-video and component outputs. Along with remote control, the DVD 38 comes with batteries, HDMI cable, A/V cables, s-video cable and mini-plug remote interconnect cable.
