The DVD-1940CI from Denon is a progressive-scan DVD player and has the ability to upconvert DVDs to 1080p resolution using HDMI connection. It has a Faroudja Fi2301 video engine and DCDi circuitry for image processing, with dual discreet 12-bit video digital-to-analog converters.

Audio-wise the player is equipped with Burr-Brown 24/192 Audio digital-to-analog converters and has built-in Dolby Digital, DTS, DVD-Audio and SACD decoders. The player is compatible with DVD-V, DVD-A, SACD, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DivX, MP3 and JPEG disks. There is an HDMI 1.1 output, plus composite, component and S-video output, and coaxial and optical digital audio outputs.
